How to practice daily conversation with shadowing
Choose a lesson at your level. Start around A1-A2 for short, clear exchanges and move up to B1-C2 as longer, faster dialogue feels comfortable.
Listen to the whole conversation once to get the context, then work sentence by sentence.
Play a sentence, then say it immediately after — match the speaker's speed and stress instead of reading word by word.
Repeat difficult sentences a few times, adjust the playback speed if needed, and use the pause-between-sentences control to give yourself time to respond.
Practice tips
- 1Focus on rhythm and linking sounds, not just individual words.
- 2Shadow out loud — imitating the mouth movements matters more than perfect grammar.
- 3Revisit the same dialogue on different days to lock in the phrases.
- 4Use the sentence list to jump straight to the lines you want to drill.
